The “obstructionist” profile of Matt Simmons
The problem with being taxpayer funded, is you have to keep telling stories, even if its just junk being rehashed. Given the attack of the CGL camp was not a minor act of vandalism, but rather a targeted domestic terrorist attack, one might think Matt Simmons is either clueless or extremely deceitful. Given the terrorist attack took place 2022, Matt wrote “TC Energy said the proposed arrangement was necessary due to “security threats facing Canadian industry” which the company said included “acute risks from foreign adversaries,” according to documents obtained through freedom of information legislation.”
The terrorist damages were estimated to be as high as 20 million Dollars.
Lets back things up a bit, Matt Simmons signed an agreement with the blockaders to even get inside this camp. Read what those terms are. “Journalists or Promotional Agents?” It is also without question the illegal camp was being funded by individuals and organizations from outside of Canada. Therefore the connection was both logical and legitimate. It is without question that Matt Simmons disqualified his credentials as a journalist, to get inside the camp.

Imagine this, sorry it not a case of imagine, you me and taxpayers are on the hook for garbage like this, the article has no substance, its funded and posted via the The Narwhal. There is zero collaborating evidence, just an excuse to attack TC Energy. The sad truth is TC Energy likely gave the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) more information that it ever got from CSIS given the level of attacks made against this publicly approved project. No wonder he needs to be funded by the Liberals, it appears nobody is willing to hire him or he would not be needing Local Journalism Initiative funding.
Like CBC publicly funded media including the Local Journalism Initiative Reporter should be abolished. There is zero journalistic independence when there is a dependence on who is paying the piper.

Journalists deliver the information their bosses are paying for, in the case of the Local Journalism Initiative, the political party in power is your real boss, and there are always expectations by the people paying your expenses. In this case its state funded media.
