Liberal Journalism Initiative – Changing Narratives Fund – Liberals Funding Media
The following is a partial list of the media that is indebted to the Liberal Party of Canada, when your bread and butter comes from goverment, you are in no position to critique it, and if you shower the Liberals with endorsements resulting in more funding, that is when you have become servants to a political party. Many of the programs funded are by design created to divide society into segments of them vs us, black against white, religion against religion, and by way of bringing to Canada, subversives under the disguise of immigration. Today media turns a blind eye of “country of origin” when new arrivals commit crime, protests even violently on our streets, impose road blocks by praying in streets instead of places of worship, new arrivals using false narratives to get into Canada. Funding First Nations to sue Canadians, (who would concoct such an insane notion?) then use the press to tell Canadians how great the Liberals are as the hero’s of justice, when in fact they created the chaos, and have a media insurance policy that prohibits by way of funding, to expose Liberals Funded Propaganda. Never blame First Nations for doing what the Liberals and NDP are paying them to do to us.

CBC/Radio-Canada received approximately $1.44 billion in financial support from the Government of Canada.
Mark Carney, the Liberal leader, pledged to increase funding for CBC/Radio-Canada by $150 million .
CBC Television receives a significant portion of its funding from taxpayer dollars, amounting to approximately CA$1.17 billion from Parliament in its 2023-24 projections.
Canada’s population is about 41.5 million people. If the government funded the CBC the way the minister is recommending, the CBC would cost taxpayers about $2.5 billion per year.
That amount would cover the annual grocery bill of about 152,854 Canadian families.
The following list is not in any specific order, other than as we came across them.
The Local Journalism Initiative (LJI), created by the Canadian Heritage ministry in 2019, doled out $50 million over five years. News organizations could apply and receive money to hire journalists or pay freelance journalists to report on under served communities and issues. (That was in 2024)
For both 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 fiscal years, the Local Journalism Initiative has added a funding stream to incorporate the Changing Narratives Fund. This stream will provide funding to eligible Canadian media organizations to hire diverse (for example, Indigenous, Black, racialized, ethno-religious minority, people with disabilities and 2SLGBTQI+ communities) journalists (including emerging journalists) in diverse-owned and mainstream news organizations to produce civic journalism for underserved communities. These organizations will offer mentoring, training, and professional development activities to these journalists to increase their participation in the media sector at all career stages. Not my comments but from the Liberals managing the program.
The blatant imposition of divide and conquer, using minorities to agitate the majority. We will list them here, and the media using taxpayer (Liberal) funding to pay their costs, and as they say, you are here to serve your master, and the Liberals are their masters. We need to clarify, the Liberal Journalism Initiative is funding in addition to Media Funding.
- Matt Simmons is a writer and editor based in Smithers, for The Narwhal is funded by the Liberal Journalism Initiative. His primary focus is on blocking pipelines and shutting down the resource industry.
- Smithers Interior News has repeatedly been using the Liberal Journalism Initiative, while attacking industry and supporting radicals, as well as refusing to stand up for locals who are the victims of crime resulting from the NDP created homeless camp in Smithers. They did an epic fail in regards to exposing the costs of these NDP experiments, looking back at the needle epidemic our kids must endure. If they cannot make it with Liberal funding then they do not deserve to be our local news outlet.
- Dan Mesec was working for CLICK Radio that is supposed to be all volunteer, but somehow Dan was paid under the taxpayer funded the Liberal Journalism Initiative.
- Smithers Community Radio Society between Apr 22, 2024 – Aug 31, 2024 received $5,543.00 if it was a publicly neutral radio, we would have no problem with it, however its primary substance is promoting woke ideology, in short serving their masters the Liberals. Our objection lies with the narrative coming out of this community radio, its all about serving leftist ideology.

The Liberals funded over 400 media companies including Black Press that runs 150 daily and weekly newspapers, and is now “Black Press Ltd. says it has entered creditor protection under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act (CCAA).” while getting $1,371,649.80 from taxpayers in 2025. This includes in the northern pat of British Columbia, The Interior News Smithers, 100 Mile House Free Press. Burns Lake Lakes District News, Caledonia Courier, Coast Mountain News, Haida Gwaii Observer, Houston Today, Kitimat Northern Sentinel, Prince Rupert Northern View, Quesnel Cariboo Observer, Terrace Standard, Vanderhoof Omineca Express, Weekend Advisor, Williams Lake Tribune.

Maybe this is the reason Black Press is going bankrupt the very people they are promoting are not funding them, let me quote “eligible Canadian media organizations to hire diverse (for example, Indigenous, Black, racialized, ethno-religious minority, people with disabilities and 2SLGBTQI+ communities) journalists (including emerging journalists) in diverse-owned and mainstream news organizations to produce civic journalism for underserved communities“ May I suggest herein lies the problem to falling revenue due to failing adverting revenues, who wants to support media that undermines your business? And who wants to buy a newspaper to read material that you find offensive? If they want to survive they need to become what the pubic majority wants them to be, or they will face extinction.
Black Press is notorious for pushing the woke agenda, pushing how Canadians stole the land we live on. The extraordinary amount of coverage supporting environmental extremists, giving them a major platform to operate from, and next to no coverage from those supporting industry. Almost all their coverage supports NDP initiatives, supports homeless camps, covers up the amount of funding going to left wing projects, stood behind the NDP on its needles for addicts, that are now a danger to our kids. They are publishing the Liberal/NDP narratives while the other side of the story gets relegated to the fine print.
